Well it's my boyfriend and I's seventh anniversary being together so I stayed up until 12 to greet him on Facebook.
Yes, Facebook.
He left last 18th overseas for work. Unlike land-based careers, jobs in the maritime field makes the long distance relationships even harder, communication-wise. You cannot talk to your loved ones whenever you wanted. Well, you can send a text message but by the time they reach the next port and have signal, your message was long lost in the sea of transmission. Good thing there's e-mail and social networks now, right?
11:59pm.
Type a one sentence greeting + tag the person + indicate current emotion + POST.
Lost the urge to sleep [!!] so watched a movie... then another.. and another. Lap muscles straining for a cat's snuggled for hours.
5:00am.
Wrong movie choice. Sleep saved me from death by boredom.
10:30am.
Woke up.
Open phone WiFi..
HE'S ONLINE!
Why the shock? He's not supposed to be online. Reason? No money. Blame our country's weather (it's a long story but, yeah, seriously). He said a crew-mate and friend of his let him borrow his rented modem while he's doing his duties. Whoever you are, I am forever grateful. To Skype as well, you both made my day. So then obviously, we talked for hours. :)
P.S.
Stumbled upon an article that states 19 reasons why long-distance relationships are better [link]. Sometimes I wonder how we would be like, or if we could last this long if we were seeing each other 24/7.
